Story boarding

You know when you start with a company and they give you their ‘training’ video?  Or when you apply for a job you might Youtube to see a promotional video?  Well – contain your excitement – I have been short-listed to write a corporate video for a client.

Its exciting – I could be at the IFTA’s next year!!!  okay okay – at the coat check in!!!

There is a recession on – although Charlie says ‘the recession in our house is over since Dad went back to work I think?’

I have until monday to come up with a 60-90 second script and story board.  I am the worlds worst drawer!!  I peaked at rectangular houses at age 7.

So now I am on Vimeo and Youtube looking for Storyboarding for Dummies!  What I have learned this far, is to keep in mind what the storyboard is used for – to organise the shots and not for artistic merit.  Apparently its fine to use stick figure people as long as the zoom in/out and character entrance/exit are clearly marked and the camera angles clear.

I submit this on monday with a price for the work and see what happens.  On the positive they are looking for someone to have a ‘retainer’ of one day per week in their office, and also manage their blog and websites.

So maybe my corporate life will be of some artistic value to me – FINALLY!!!
