8 weeks stretched in front of me like a life sentence when the kids got their holidays from school! How would I entertain them on a limited budget?
The woman in front of me at Supervalu on friday, told the cashier she was going to the south of France with her best friend and all their collective kids. That made me feel worse.
In previous years we had sunny Italy to look forward to – this year we have camping in Wicklow?
But that was friday. Since then we have gotten old Thomas The Tank engine tracks down and played together, we lay on the bottom bunk and giggled til tears ran down our face with Rex. Today Robert brought down the scalextric and played for a few hours with the kids.
So now I am becoming more chilled about the financial straight jacket we are in – and realised that spending time together, whether walking the dog, playing train tracks, time with your family is what its all about.
We might even get to Cornwall for a week with wonderful Ryanair if all goes well with Robert at St Bart’s this week.
Meanwhile we have friends coming tomorrow, are going to a friends house on Tuesday for lunch, and another friend over on Wednesday. By then Robert will be back from london with news of his operation.
So I am over the moon that school is out for summer!!
