#93 Introducing Scarlett & Ruby

No they aren’t Rex’s new love interests in the cuddly toy department, Ruby and Scarlett are the two characters in the new play we are writing.

Its based (very loosely) on my blog with Ruby being a forty something who leaves corporate ville behind to start her masters in writing.  She has a hubby (true) she has two young kids (true) she is on the verge of having an affair with someone from her course (absolutely not true!! by the way my course is ONLINE).

You know drama by nature has to be dramatic and my life needs a bit more spice before it can grab an audiences attention for at least an hour – so ‘Ruby’ is toying with the idea of having an affair with Max who has a house in leafy Blackrock, has written three novels and has a chalet in Wexford – or was it a mobile?

Scarlett is the Samatha Jones of Southside Dublin (posh), she has slept her way to the top of her corporate career, has a penchant for fitness instructors from Eastern Europe and recreational drugs.  Slowly but surely Scarlett’s world start to crumble around her – she gets made redundant,  has a health scare and to make it worse NAMA are on her tail!

We will have it in production by May/June time- so ‘peel back your ears’ and listen hard- plenty of laughs and a fair bit of risque humour – think Vagina Monlogues without the vagina’s – Or Briget Jones gets made redundant!
