Rex has reached sexual maturity. At the age of nine months he is the equivalent to a 15 year old boy.
He also has small dog syndrome and will square up to German Shepherd or Rottweiler – as long as I am within trotting distance.
So it came as no surprise that he developed a love interest in a quite large cuddly toy. It’s a kangaroo toy which is easily 3-4 times his size. He comes into the living room dragging this supline antipodean behind him. He especially likes turf fires and can be seen ‘enjoying’ the company of the afore mentioned Sheila in front of the fire – lying on the mat of an evening.
Charlie said ‘Rex thinks he’s a cowboy and the kangaroo’s the horse’. While Aoife thinks Rex is learning to dance like the rest of us are to ‘let’s Dance’ on the Kinnect.
We had people over for lunch last Sunday and as we gazed out into our tranquil (if somewhat muddy) garden – there was Rex at it full throttle with Sheila!!
The mother of a new born baby – yes Rex is the floor show!
We have tried hiding the kangaroo, but then the sniffing starts, and within five minutes he is trotting back into the living room with her.
But there is a date coming when happily for us this all will end – next Saturday he will be wearing the cone of shame. Until then we will keep one eye on the Telly and one eye on Sheila.
